Happy weekend, y’all!

I’m writing from Matt’s parents house for the holiday weekend, which has been filled with sugar cookie decorating, learning to make tradition Napoli pizza and hysterical episodes of Netflix’s Nailed It. Clearly, serious business over here 😉 But truly, my heart is so happy to be spending another Easter with Matt and his family… especially since they know I’ll “accidentally” polish off  all of the Mallomars.

What are you up to this holiday weekend?

Happy weekend, y’all!

Since this week has been a little more crazier than most, I’m looking forward to taking it easy this morning i.e. a leisurely breakfast in bed and tons of reading – which is probably why my number of must-reads this week is near doubled! Don’t worry, though. Everything click is worth it (I always have to edit). Matt and I are attempting a little adventure later if the weather holds up, then tomorrow I’m having a brunch-themed potluck with my favorite Hoboken friends.

While I’m hoping for a trip to Churchill Downs next year, I actually made a quick escape to Florida for the weekend where margaritas are a statewide staple. Add a pool, glossy magazine and some guacamole with chips and I’m in heaven. No matter which holiday you’re celebrating though, cheers to a fun-filled weekend! :-)

Happy Friday, y’all!

Matt and I are headed down to Annapolis, MD this weekend to spend some time with my mom’s side of the family :-) I’ve been visiting Annapolis for as long as I could remember – my mother and her sisters grew up here and went to school downtown (the same school where one of my aunts works now and next to the church where I was baptized!), my grandmother was raised here and my great-grandmother (who turned 102 a couple of months ago) still lives minutes from town where she use to own a tobacco farm in the early 40s.

Besides being rich in my family’s history, the city holds some of the most beautiful 18th century brick buildings and is known as the ‘sailing capital of the world.’ My own grandfather even attended the Naval Academy (which is based in Annapolis) at one point! As much as I’m exhausted from a busy week, I’m always thrilled to be back in this little city with enchanting views of sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay.

1. Coveting this nautical and navy purse.

2. 14 amazing documentaries on Netflix right now.

3. I’m all for Jess’s minimalist approach to beauty…

6. How to clean your computer from the inside out.

8. Love Ali’s latest home reveal.

9. Obsessed with this new-to-me face cleanser.

Anyone else feel like summer is flying by? Father’s Day is only a week away (Sunday, June 17th) so mark your calendars now. Father’s Day is always a tough one – my Dad is the greatest, don’t get me wrong, but if my Dad needs something, he buys it. End of story. I think last year he wanted me to make him a homemade card (since I excelled at art when I was younger)… however, I would like to step it up this year to spoil him.

Here are a few clever gift ideas this year:

Happy weekend, y’all!

As you might’ve guessed from the picture, Matt and two of our closest friends attended to the Victory Cup Polo Match on Governor’s Island today! Despite the fickle weather, we had a blast cheering from the sidelines (although I’ve always wanted to try polo!) and enjoying lunch/drinks while getting dressed up – big hat and all. That’s half the fun of a polo match, right? Matt and I even one second for “best dressed couple.” Now we’re visiting Matt’s parents, so I’m happy to spend some quality with them in the country.

1. This. Dress. #addtocart

2. Jackie Kennedy’s top hostess tips.

Oh weekend. Good to see you again.

I have my second to last Saturday class for my MBA “Turbo” program today, so I’m both exhausted and over the moon. The program ends September 8th (right before fall classes begin) so I’m starting to see the light at the tunnel. Sunday, despite the massive amount of homework, my Dad is visiting on a layover so I’ll hopefully him, Matt and me can stop by the Jazz Age Lawn Party. Have you been? It’s one of my favorite events of the summer – from the live band and dancing to the decadent costumes and cocktails. Cheers to the weekend!

3. Dreaming of a trip to the South of France after reading about Arles.

It’s been in the 90s most of the week so my sundresses and sandals are still at the front of my closet. Even though the temperatures are doing no favors for my hair, I’m still not ready to give up beach weekends and rosé.

I will say I’m over-the-moon for cozy layers and the colorful foliage – fingers crossed that when I’m New England in two weeks that I’ll get to do some leaf peeping! This weekend Matt and I are visiting his family, so I’m relishing quality time with people I adore while catching up on homework and some neglected laundry. Since I’ll be in New England the next two weekends, I’m taking the next 48 hours to work on papers, study and celebrate a handful of birthdays along with a couple long-overdue reunions. While there might be a lot going on, I’m still savoring the season with pumpkin pancakes in bed.

It’s the little things, right?

Happy Sunday!

This week was packed with work, school and a little bit of spontaneous fun. On Thursday, Matt and I took a break from reality and went to the soft opening of Bury the Hatchet in Brooklyn. Yes, that’s right, an axe throwing bar. And honestly? It was awesome (!) A thrill and adrenaline rush all at the same time. We practiced a bit – it’s all about your footing – before competing with some other groups where we both landed multiple bullseyes. We finished with drinks at the Wythe Hotel overlooking the Manhattan lights. Yesterday, we were back in Brooklyn cheering on the Gators, visiting with friends and just enjoying the day (despite the crazy weather). The rest of the weekend will be spent taking it easy – hopefully with a few Halloween movies or two.

1. I dare you to not order this comfy-looking fleece.

2. Love Blair’s collection for Nordstrom – especially this blazer.

3. Six haunted spots to visit in New York.

12. Seven secrets to living longer.
